TONI’S KITCHEN “More Than Soup Feeding Souls”.
Toni’s Kitchen is new addition to our Wall of Heroes. Margie’s Daughter recognizes it as humanity working at its best. Parishioners at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church started it in 1982. It has served meals since without interruption and has formed key partnerships with other community resources. People arriving for a hot meal are welcomed as guests and served restaurant style. All that enter are treated with dignity and respect. Antoinette “Toni” Green was the cook for the South End Day Care Center, also housed at St. Luke’s. Toni brought to the new ministry her generous spirit, great talent and years of experience. She lent her name to the ministry which clearly demonstrates humanity working at its best. They currently have over 1,000 volunteers. Last year, they provided 100,000 meals on-site and in the community through their outreach programs. Toni’s has evolved into “more than soup,” connecting guests with financial, health and counseling services. Their Backpack program has grown to 200 per week. It is packed with lots of healthy non-perishable food. Toni’s Kitchen is honored for “Tilting the World in a better Direction”. Visit them @ http://tk.slechurch.org
