Wisdom in Rhymes From Childhood …

giphy[1]As of late my mind keeps floating back and remembering a rhyme from childhood. It was the strategy used to prevent an all out fight with another child and stop bullying.  It went as follows “Sticks and Stones may break my bones but names can never harm me.” We would yell it out in a sing/song manner with great force without much thought. Yet, we instinctively embraced the power of reciting it. As the words rang out,we were instantly infused with self confidence. Declaring to ourselves and the world that we were in control and lacked fear. The power of this simple childhood rhyme has served me will over the years. It evolved to the status of a sacred mantra often running through my mind. It is just that simple….margiesdaughter.com
