The art of doing nothing or active relaxation is a powerful tool. It is greatly  undervalued in our over booked world.The pandemic provides us with the opportunity to explore and experience its benefits. Start by giving your self permission to just be. Behaviors such as listening to soothing music either sitting or lying down and coloring count as active relaxation. My all time favorite is to sit in silence and stare at a wall. You  may prefer to stare at  the ceiling or out the window.Since, we are home bound the wall stare ranks pretty high. Although anything you wish to stare at will do. A pet is a good choice. Non-doing is an essential element that creates a balance in our life.It natures and comforts our nervous system. Experiment with what works best for you. Make time to practice doing nothing. Practice does make perfect. It is just that simple. When we start to think outside the box.
