Routine a Trusted Friend During the Pandemic

giphy[1]Our lives are made up of hundreds of daily routines that govern and provide structure.The pandemic has instantly changed all of that.Our normal routines have vanished greatly accelerating our levels of stress and anxiety.Normally,our days were divided up into some variation of work, preparing meals, exercise, caring for kids, and sleep. Rinse and repeat. A majority of us are now working from home or not working at all.During this time of uncertainty constructing new daily routines puts us in control. This simple step grounds us mentally and physically. Routines provide structure and balance. Routines help correct any departures from steady sleep and regular eating habits. Two fundamental habits that strengthen and support our immune and nervous system.The sleepy-time hormone melatonin is a powerful antioxidant that supports immune functions and reduces  inflammation. Just going to bed and getting up at the same time maximizes its production and benefits. So, when everything around us is out of control. The construction and following of new daily routines is completely under our control.Now, that is power. It is just that simple.
