Practice The Art of Doing Nothing………….

The art of doing nothing or active relaxation is a powerful tool. That is greatly undervalued. The pandemic provides us with the opportunity to explore and experience its benefits. Start by giving your self permission to do nothing. Behaviors such as listening to soothing music either sitting or lying down and coloring count as active relaxation. My all time favorite is to just sit in silence and stare at a wall. You may prefer to stare out the window or at an object, photo, painting. Anything you chose to stare at will do. A pet is a good choice. Non-doing or active relaxation helps us balance stress. It is a simple behavior that natures and activates the calming branch of our central nervous system. Experiment with what works best for you. Design your own method. Make time to practice doing nothing. Practice does make perfect. It is just that simple.
