As we wrap our minds and hearts around the brutal attack on Humanity by Russia. I felt compelled to seek a definition for Oligarchy. It is a Greek word that means “rule by a few”. A government characterized by despotic power exercised by a small and privileged group for corrupt or selfish purposes. Those who hold the power in an oligarchy are called “oligarchs”. Members of this ruling group are wealthy and exercise power and control through their wealth. In an Oligarchy citizens do not have the right to vote or choose their leaders.
