Lately my mind keeps floating back to a rhyme from childhood. It went “Sticks and stones may break my bones but names can never harm me.” We would shout it out in a sing/song manner without much thought. As the words rang out, we were transformed. We became fearless. We declared to ourselves and the world. We are not afraid. This simple childhood rhyme has served me well throughout the years. During periods of great challenge it evolves into a scarred mantra continually running through my mind. It is just that simple. margiesdaughter.com
