The following behaviors reprogram our brain’s response to stress. Activate your innate ability to choose one thought over another. We can not have opposing thoughts in our mind at the same time. Make a list of feel good thoughts/memories. Rank them from 1 to 5. With 5 being the most powerful. Be creative. Use your visual mind to paint vivid images of the list. The instance a negative thought pops into your mind. Bring up your list. Chose a thought/memory based on the strength needed to produce the switch. With practice switching becomes automatic. Another behavior is to perform simple acts of kindness. A please and thank you count. Acts of kindness release a steady stream of feel good hormones into our bloodstream. Hormones that make our brain and nervous system very happy! Take control. It is just that simple.
