Conversations with My Mother

Y Is A Crooked Letter…

From early childhood my words were heard and valued. My Mother told this story often. Always for my benefit. “When I tell my daughter to do something”. She always ask. Why Mother? I was launched on my quest for answers. My Mother would listen to me giving serious consideration to my questions. Often, I sensed both her bemusement and frustration. As I asked question after question. Repeatedly saying “why? why? why? Finally, she would say, “Because Y is a crooked letter”. Temporarily satisfied. I wandered off. To contemplate how Y is a crooked letter. My quests for answers. Taught me to hear and value my own voice. Seek my own counsel. Draw my own conclusions. I learned how to think. Make time to ask Y. Seek your own counsel. Draw your own conclusions. Learn how to think. Move from a reactive to proactive position. It is just that simple. Thanks Mom!!!
